Celebrating Christmas in Chile

This year we spent Christmas in Antofagasta.  Yes, it was slightly depressing, but it was still very memorable.  I think the hardest part for me was actually getting into the Christmas spirit because it was summer here.  It just didn't feel like Christmas.  It seemed wrong.  But, I blared the Christmas music anyway, got an advent calendar and made the kids go see Santa (who STILL wears the heavy costume even during the summer!).  Isaac was a little weary of him, and Sadie wouldn't even go close enough for a picture.  Even with me sitting there.  Yes, the beard is real.

Below is our Christmas Even dinner.  Very festive. Tacos.  Unfortunately Steve had to work on Christmas, but the good news is he came home early for Christmas Eve and got to have a late start the next morning.

Isaac loved his toys from our nana, Ineida.  They were very loud and lots of lights. All of them moved.  Even the dinosaur who roared and chased after the kids.

Christmas morning, Sadie was super excited about her my little ponies.  Hmmm... Followed by lots of fun, especially the princess castle and of course the completely made from scratch homemade cinnamon rolls (I was very proud of myself!)
