Nonstop action

Remember what I was saying about the milestones?  Well, it's been nuts - she has 6 teeth, claps all the time, is now singing (yes she has a favorite song) and soon as we got back from our Oregon trip, a light switch was turned on and Sadie realized she was a little girl.  She started crawling and pulling up on everything within a couple of days of each other.  Now she cannot stay still - she is so busy.  Crawling, pulling up, chasing kitty, finding random things on the floor to put in her mouth.  Her new favorite thing is to crawl to me wherever I am (gone are the days where I can just put her on her blanket and have her play with some toys - she has to get into everything) and use my pants to crawl up my legs, demanding my hands so we can go walk around.  She is opening drawers and cabinets (I need to baby proof!) and loves to crawl to our patio sliding door and stand up and watch the birds and trees.  She is really keeping me on my toes!  Oh, and I'm obsessed with her.

the farm

It's been awhile, I apologize. Of course the past couple of months have flown by and Sadie has gone through so many major milestones, not to mention so many clothing sizes!

In September, we were lucky enough to visit my grandparents, Sadie's great grandparents.  We stayed almost a whole week with them, feeding the ducks, walking around the farm and watching Steve work on the Model A pick-up.  But, Sadie's favorite part was playing with cousin Josie and Great Aunt Vicki, building monkey castles and car ramps out of blocks and playing with Todd's quiet book (which I used to play with as a kid).  It was a very special time and brought back so many memories.

I'm attaching some of my favorite photos.  I have to say, Steve wearing Josie's backpack is my favorite - gets me every time.

Virginia is for lovers

those shauldozas have moved.  it's official.  we now reside in virginia, just outside of dc.  after a three-day road trip with two cars, sadie and kitty, we are now living in a hotel (but not much longer let's hope!).  both sadie and kitty did well during the drive (surprisingly), although by the third day of the drive, sadie was ready for something other than being locked to her carseat and a view of a seat mirror.

sadie is growing up so fast and really developing a personality.  she loves to smile and play, but i would say her favorite thing is to kick and eat her fingers.

Mother's Day: my first mother's day was amazing. i was so lucky to be able to spend it with laura and brian who made it so special for me.  they made me a huge amazing breakfast, got me flowers, laura took me out for a pedicure while brian watched sadie (good man that one), and steve even got off work and we all went out for lunch.  my favorite part of the day was our big activity, which brian captured on video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_bQmYTx-Yo

Father's Day: Steve's parents and sister Kendall and her husband Travis were in town for father's day. we had lots of fun and tried to spoil steve on the big day.  i have included a pic of him and sadie sitting on our deck enjoying some (finally!) summer-ish weather!

below i'm including some of my favorite pics (out of the thousands we seem to have...).

Most adorable onesie ever! Thank you to laura and lucygoose boutique!

Another first

I am so excited to report that today Sadie rolled over for the first time!!  I'm so happy for my 15 week old :).  I didn't get the very first time on video, but I got the second time, so here it is.  She did it three times in a row then got fussy (probably a little shocked at what she did herself!).  We'll see if it was a fluke, or if she did it on purpose in the days to come.  It's just incredible that every little thing is so amazing! (can you tell by all my "!")

Thawing out and other major milestones

After "the fog" as Maria calls it (meaning the first few weeks after birth) and after all the traveling, Steve, Sadie and I have been settling down into more of a routine to prepare Sadie for daycare when I have to return to work in a couple weeks.  As the snow melted (then came again then melted again), Sadie has made major progress! This post is dedicated to her adorableness and development as a little person :)

Still freezing in April!

Look, Mom, I got it!

Tummy time is fun on the boppy (but I hate it on the floor!)

Lots of traveling...

Sadie and I were able to take a long 3-week vacation to visit friends and family.  We started out our journey in Austin, continuing to Oregon and then to Chicago.  It was so fun for Sadie to meet all her aunts, uncles, cousins, and great-grandparents!

In Austin, Sadie loved spending so much time with Grandpa, Granny and cousin Madison.  She also loved going on the hike and bike trail and eating so much good food (via Mommy).  I was very very thankful to Grandpa, Granny, Aunt Amanda (Aunt Da as Josie and Garrett call her so I guess that is what we are going with), Uncle Matty B, Great Aunt Sharon and Great Uncle Clyde, Laura and Brian for all their help taking care of Sadie and letting me get some much-needed rest!! Lots of family from Houston made the journey to Austin to meet her (see all the pics below).  Sadie was so happy to meet everyone, and I am so thankful for having such a wonderful family who came all that way just for a day!  Granny and Aunt Da even babysat for a night so that I could go out on the town with friends!

In Oregon, Sadie met her Great Grandma and Great Granddad as well as Great Aunt Vicki and Great Uncle Dennis.  The trip was bittersweet as we attended my cousin's funeral. Grandpa Joe and Uncle Matt were also there, so it was fun getting lots of family time and enjoying some fresh air!

In Chicago, we celebrated Garrett's 2nd birthday as well as Grandpa's 65th birthday.  Some major milestones for the boys!  They both had camo parties with amazing food.  Sadie loved meeting Aunt Katie, Josie and Garrett for the first time as well as seeing Grandpa, Granny, Uncle Matt, Aunt Da, Uncle Matty B and Madison again! Aunt Katie and Uncle Matt's house looked amazing after the major renovation of the basement (and everyone got their own rooms!)
